Mixed Ability Yoga

Classes for all abilities. From beginners to experienced.

MIXED ABILITY YOGA CLASSES are available for beginners through to those who a practice yoga regularly.

The classes combine breath work, coordinated with flowing and static postures designed to build strength, release tension and help to settle the mind.

The creative sequences bring a strong intensity & focus to create balance and stability, both to the body and mind. Play and exploration is encouraged throughout your guided practice, to help you experience joy and freedom within yourself.

The classes are guided to reach into every part of yourself, on every level of your being: physically, energetically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

A new sequence is created every term and is repeated each week, with additional, more challenging postures as the term progresses, so you gain a sense of your practice evolving with you. The repetition of practices helps you tune into yourself with ease, bring a sense of depth and familiarity, and observe how your body and thoughts respond to certain practices.

As a result of this, the practice helps you nurture a greater sense of self-awareness and develop a sense of satisfaction as you feel your practice and wellbeing evolve.

Classes are created to include a full range of Hatha Yoga practices including:

Pranayama (breathing practices)

Kriya’s (breath cleansing practices to cleanse or ignite)

Meditation

Asana (posture practices) both static & flowing, co-ordinated with breath

Relaxation or Yoga Nidra (guided yogic sleep)

 Pranayama

This helps us to learn how we are affected by the rhythm and awareness of our own breath. Techniques are guided to use your breath to help settle the nervous system, which leads to:

• reduced stress and anxiety

• support in settling our ‘monkey minds’

• help to look inward and support a meditative practice

• support of your physical practice, shifting stagnant energy and inviting vitality into our whole sense of being.

Kriya’s

Helping to cleanse and ignite the body’s system through carefully guided breathing practices. Whether clearing out the sinuses or firing up the digestive system, Kriya practices are useful tools that are helpful in preventing blockages within our internal systems.

Meditation

This practice  gently guides us inward for a moment of self-enquiry; an opportunity to explore and listen beyond the daily chatter into the intuitive mind, to develop a practice of stillness to look within.

Asana

Combining both flowing and static postures in order to create a balance that energises, releases tension, creates space and invites a sense of comfort throughout the whole of the physical body. Postures practiced are exploratory, toning, challenging, playful and calming in order to awaken the self, build strength, enhance balance, and invite a sense of freedom and lightness of being into the entire self on every level.

Relaxation or Yoga Nidra

Every session ends with a guided relaxation to help the body rest fully, consciously, in order to nourish and restore. Yoga Nidra takes a different form of a deeper guided meditation inward, beyond the conscious mind, that can create a space to heal and/or inspire.

Modifications are available throughout the practice. Please complete a Mixed Ability Questionnaire before attending the class, so I can tailor elements of the class for your needs.

Classes are 90 minutes.
